As my better half wrote in the previous blog entry, Dexter's got a new pair of shoes. But these aren't your everyday baby shoes. Oh no, friends and neighbors, these are pure walking shoes, ready to take the everyday abuse our little guy Dexter is going to dish out. If you're at all interested in seeing their website, they can be seen here at See Kai Run

They look even better when they're on Dexter's feet (hard to get a good picture with these on his feet...he just wants to get going when he's got these shoes on).

And here is Dextert walking around throwing the previously mentioned shoes around like they're yesterday's trash.

D-Unit's mom here. Dexter finally got to meet my cousin Ben! (Does that make him D's second cousin?) Ben came to town from Seattle to visit his sister Shannon and their mother Sue. We met up for some lunch and had a lovely time. Ben and Dexter bonded with everyone's favorite game, "Try to Catch Dexter's Toys Before He Throws Them to the Ground." Good times. Here, he's posing like the little male model we're grooming him to be. Show 'em your BlueSteel, Dex!

Ginny and Lars were in town on business and Ginny invited us to hang by the pool at The Claremont. This was Dexatrim's first real pool experience. He actually wore swim trunks for the first time! It was a beautiful, warm day and the water was perfect. I hadn't been to the pool there since the extremely hungover day after our wedding. Here's Ginny and Dexter in the kid's pool. You can barely see one of the awesome fountains in the right corner.

Now that our little guy's all grows up, he needs some shoes that are made for walkin', so we headed to Small Frys on 24th St in our old hood in the city. On the way, we came across an SFFD fire truck. As you may have noticed, D has a thing for men in uniform, so he begged to have his pic taken with the firemen and their truck. (More on the first pair of shoes next time.)

Well, well, well...press play on this video. Dexter has something to show you.

That's right everyone, our not-so-little Dexter can now WALK! Dexter just picked himself up the other day and just started walking. First it was a few tentative steps, now he's strutting his stuff. Way to go, Dexter!

Guess what out-of-state college Dexter's thinking about going to? Although I'd love Dexter to attend his old man's alma mater (California State University, Northridge...GO MATADORS!), he just might go to a CSU all right...Colorado State University Fort Collins...to follow in his Aunties Katie and Libby's footsteps. Thanks for the nifty shirt and socks, Aunt Libby!

Dexter and Charlotte (our neighbor) have a cooking station in the backyard to satisfy America's demand for mud pies. Here they are doing a bit of work.

That's all we've got for now. Hope everyone is well and we hope Lolo is feeling better!

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there! Dexter and I spent the weekend in Los Angeles as I've mentioned in last week's installment. We went to the hospital to visit Dexter's Lolo and he's feeling a little better. We're hoping he feels a lot better so he can go home and rest. Get well soon, pop. We took this picture when we went to vist my dad at the hospital.

The plane trip down to Los Angeles was pretty easy with just me and Dexter (the plane trip back was a whole 'nother headache...can you say "meltdown"?). Anyway, Dexter's impression here summed up his feelings on the plane ride back.

My cousin, Adel, works for Southwest airlines and just so happened to be working the day that Dexter and I were going to return to Alameda. As you can see, Dexter's intestinal fortitude knows no bounds as he proceeds to place Adel's ear plugs directly into his mouth. It was pretty neat to see Adel at the airport cause she got Dexter a trip to an airplane cabin!

"Dexter Seven Niner heavy, you are clear for take off on runway 1 north"...that's what dexter was babbling as he pretended to be the pilot of the plane. Needless to say, the real pilot came in and put Dexter in a passenger seat (not a captain's seat).

Bye from Los Angeles! Hope all you moms had a good weekend. I hope that you feel better, pop and we all love you very much.

Hello, my name is Trouble. Trouble with a capital T. Trouble, aka Dexter, is taking his show on the road. That's right, Dexter and I are taking a little road (air?) trip to Los Angeles to visit my family. My dad (Dexter's Lolo) is in the hospital recovering from surgery and since Lolo couldn't make it to Dexter's birthday last month, we're bringing the party to him. Also, it's Lolo's Birthday today...Happy birthday, Lolo! Hope you feel better soon.

Looks like trouble had a run-in with the police department...AGAIN. Oakland police checking the Dexican for contraband.

It hasn't been mentioned (because it was decided not too long ago) that Grandma Carolyn is retiring. Dexter and Suzie went to Grandma's office to help celebrate her retirement party.

Grandma Carolyn holdin' her retirement cake as Dexter is being held up by Gopal. Suzie's looking especially cute here!

It's hot up here in Alameda. Not Southern California hot, but it's hot enough to prompt Suzie to get Dexter a swimming pool to try and stay cool. It's like Dexter has his own private resort. The sun hat is keeping our little friend from getting the full effect of global warming.

Amelia and her mommy, Jennifer, came by to christen the new pool. Here's Amelia joining Dexter and Suzie for a quick dip in the pool.

Dexter was getting in the deep end of the pool, so he had to grab on to mom.

Evidently this pool resort is clothing optional. I guess Amelia and Dexter are trying to figure out how to take the car out for a spin to get some new clothes.

What a fun day! Amelia knows to keep hydrated on such a warm spring day as Dexter slyly looks on. Nice tan you got there, Dexalotapus!

We've been a little lax on taking pictures lately. A lot of things are going on right now. I'm on my way down to Los Angeles next weekend with Dexter to visit my family. My dad is going through a bit of a rough patch in reference to his health and we're hoping he feels better soon. Coincidentally, it's my dad's birthday this coming Friday; Happy Birthday, Pop!

Thought we'd share what Dexter looks like first thing in the morning. It's not all lollipops, rainbows and kittens with the Dexican. I lovingly refer to this as Dexter's morning face before he gets his first cup of coffee, I mean, first bottle of milk.

But guess what? Just like every cloud has a silver lining, Dexter has his sunny disposition face.

When I leave for work in the morning, Dexter usually looks out the window. That's pretty much it, he normally doesn't wave, but he has been known to smile.

That's it for now. See you all soon!
