I've been looking at another blog for quite some time and thought it would be nice to give them a plug here. Rice Daddies is a great blog about being an Asian Dad. Actually, the main feature this past week was titled Balikbayan and prompted me to put the link here. Also, here's a link to the pictures from members of the site, Rice Daddies Flickr Pictures.

With that said, Suzie and Dexter took the ferry to San Francisco to have lunch with Rebecca. At Rebecca's office, they came across this little "chug" (chihuahua and pug mix) puppy named Ellie. Dexter wasn't too pleased that Ellie was almost, but not quite, as cute as he is. He's not a fan of cute competition.

I figure if Dexter ever did grafitti, he'd do something like this...

Guess who's getting a little bit of rhythm? Our little Dexter is starting to clap at a steady beat.

Here's Dexatrim using his alligator walker (don't ask, it's just too much to explain). He's well on his way to walking by himself. Go, Dexter, Go!

Dexter and Suzie had breakfast with Billie and Jakki the other day. Sometimes, not always, it feels like when a picture of Dexter is captured, it's like you can capture the essence of the moment. This moment feels like I can share Dexter's infectious laugh.

I've mentioned before that it's hard ot capture Dexter laughing. But what do you know, Dexter's having a good hearty laugh with Billie.

This past week has been one of those medical/dental weeks. Dexter had to go to the dentist for his first ever dental visit. Here he is at Dr. Manaloto DDS' office being held by Teresa with Dr. Manaloto getting in on the action.

And here is Suzie holding Dexter in the dental chair.

Later on in the week, Dexter had his one year doctor visit with his pediatrician, Dr. Parker.

Dexter has found that whenever he's not wearing a diaper, his hands go straight for his dingaling. He thinks no one's looking, but in reality, someone is ALWAYS looking.

Dexter took a moment to pose with Dr. Parker.

And lastly, here are Dexter's stats for his one year check up. Lookin' good, Dexter, lookin' good!

Finally getting around to posting more Dexter birthday pictures. Dexter got mad when someone said he looked like he was about 14 months old and he said something along the lines of, "Sir! I am most certainly 12 months old as of today!".

And to show that he is a 1 year old, he proceeded to gingerly eat his personalized birthday cake.

Can you imagine the bounty of gifts that Dexter got? He's a lucky little guy to be loved by so many people!

Speaking of gifts, Dexter had a field day with "unwrapping" his presents. By unwrapping, we mean that we would tear off a little piece and Dexter would take said piece and place it directly into his mouth.

This last picture summarizes the past year with Dexter; an unfinished cake that looks good.

The big day is here! Dexter's big birthday number 1 has arrived. A number of pictures were taken, so we're going to take a few days to put them up in his blog. Lots of good food was on hand; Lola sent most of the food from Los Angeles with Tita Nini since she couldn't make this festive day.

First off, here's the cake that Tita Nini got for not-so-little Dexter.

And here's the man of the hour. Took me a few days, but I found Dexter a genuine birthday shirt. It's actually a Mexican wedding shirt, kind of the same thing, right?

Dexter's godfather came by to wish his godson a happy birthday.

So here we are, me, Yancy, Rob, Dexter and Rodney posing. Dexter could probably start his own boy band with this group.

Uncle Todd (Suzie's uncle) is giving Dexter a hold while mom beams with pride over Dexter's first birthday.

It's been almost a year since Dexter was born. It's such a cliche to say that time flies, but indeed it does. In the blink of an eye, our son has gone from a newborn baby to a toddler. He's more than tripled in size. And he's got himself a little personality that develops every day. He constantly amazes us.

Speaking of amazing, Dexter was amazed by the first gift he received. He couldn't wait to unwrap it since it came from Grandma Gail and Grandpa John. I wonder what it is?

Hooray! A Radio Flyer wagon! It'll come in handy to haul around Dexter the Birthday Boy and all of his important belongings.

Dexter is very proud of his wagon. He loves being in it and unwrapping yet another present. The Dexican loves the books that his aunties Katie and Libby sent him.

I'd say that we've got ourselves a very photogenic little boy.

Suzie's friend from way back in the day (that is way back before me and Sir Dex-a-lot), Meghan, came by to visit all the way from Washington D.C. A pleasant day was had by all!

Been a while since we've checked in. It's a few days until a certain little man's 1 year birthday comes up, so everything is pretty hectic. In the meantime, Dexter's been trying out a new type of music fusion; gangsta rap while playing the piano. I wonder if this fad will take off.

Dexter and Suzie spent an afternoon with Jenny the other day. It done made him tired and here's a precious photo of our little guy taking a nap at Jenny and Anthony's.

The weather's been nice up in Northern California. Sun's been shining so Suzie had to get Dexter a sun hat to protect the old noggin. Dexter likes it so much that he started eating a rubber duck.

Suzie bought him a fireman's helmet that was a little too small. I think Dexter thinks the same and is letting it be known with the look on his face.
